Independent
Besides being a full time Professor at the University of Zurich since 2007, I work as an independent advisor with a small but dedicated team on a case by case base. By this approach, I can fully concentrate on the clients’ needs, taking advantage of my vast national and international network, in cooperation with all big firms and institutions but without the conflict of interest big entities often come across.
International
Being socialised in the German speaking legal environment (Swiss, German und Liechtenstein Law) and with the “authorisation to teach” (venia legendi) in Private International and Comparative Law, I am able to deal with all international implications in my subject area. I am an enthusiastic member of the most important international conferences and associations, such as The International Academy of Estate and Trust Law (TIAETL) and the International Wealth Advisors Forum. My international Practice has been honoured by American Lawyer/Legal Week by my election into the “Private Client Global Elite” in 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021.
Scientific
With over 200 publications and my similarily vast record of lectures, I can claim to be one of the most read scholars and sought after speakers in my field, well respected by colleagues, clients, courts, as well as supervisory and tax authorities. As examples, I was chosen to represent the subject of foundation law at the Swiss (2013) and the German (2018) Lawyers days, spoke at the NYSBA Estate Planning Institute (2016), the University of Oxford (2015), and the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law in Florence (2015), Tokyo (2019), and Vienna (2023). Furthermore, I regularly advise Governments on law-making issues regarding foundation law.
